AutoVAULT v.1.2 adds security on Sun Solaris and HP-UX

AutoVAULT now vaults and recovers data for TSM Servers running on all major Unix & Windows platforms.

Reading, PA - March 7, 2002  Code Relief LLC, developer of AutoVAULT™, a Tape Vaulting and Disaster Recovery application for Tivoli® Storage Manager™, today launched its new version ... AutoVAULT v.1.2!  This new version, which runs from a Windows NT/2K platform, will now vault and restore data for TSM servers running on all major non-MVS platforms: Windows, AIX, and now Sun Solaris and HP-UX.

     September 11 has heightened awareness in the data management community of the need for off-site vaulting and fast, reliable disaster recovery.  David Nicklaus from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported in October 2001: “Data security experts say all companies should look at their operations and ask how much money they would lose if a given system or piece of information were unavailable for an hour, a day, or a week ... Many companies take the first step, backing up their data, but then don’t take the additional steps of making sure the backups are in a secure place ...” (and that they can recover the backups in a reasonable amount of time).

     To be fully covered in the event of a disaster, a company needs to ensure that its media is where it should be and that it has the ability to recover its TSM server quickly. Automation of these two important functions is not included in the base TSM application.
